Allahabad University BA English Language and Literature Degrees Now Equivalent

The University of Allahabad has officially decided to consider the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees in English Language and English Literature as equivalent. This decision was announced through a notification issued by the university’s Controller of Examinations office on Friday, 30 October 2026.

The equivalence committee held a meeting on 30 October 2026, where the syllabi of both the English Language and English Literature courses were thoroughly reviewed. Following this review, the committee resolved that the two undergraduate courses share sufficient academic content to be granted equivalency.

This equivalence means that students graduating with BA degrees in either English Language or English Literature from Allahabad University will receive the same recognition for their degree qualifications. The decision aims to benefit students from both courses by providing parity in academic and professional opportunities.
