Delhi University has cancelled the notification for Hindi PhD admissions interviews originally scheduled to start on 28 October 2026. Students protested the very short notice given and the limited number of candidates shortlisted despite over 150 seats available.

The notification was issued on 27 October asking candidates to report on 28 October at 9:15 a.m., providing only a few hours’ notice. Following objections from students about the short notice and exclusion of many applicants, the Hindi department cancelled the interviews scheduled on 28, 29, 30, 31 October and 2 November until further orders.

The university has yet to announce new interview dates or officially explain the withdrawal of the notification. Candidates are awaiting a new notification and seek clarification on whether all eligible candidates will be interviewed and whether the number of shortlisted candidates will be increased.
