North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, is conducting a walk-in interview for the recruitment of two temporary project staff positions under a DBT funded project in the Department of Biochemistry. The project titled “Assessment of silicate solubilizing bacterial biodiversity and abundance with physicochemical characteristics of paddy fields in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, for development of location specific biofertilizer” is sanctioned to Dr. Arvind Kumar.
Eligibility
- Project Associate-I (PA-I): 1 post. Essential qualification: M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Botany, or relevant subjects. Desirable: Experience in soil microbiology, molecular biology and phylogenetic analysis. Upper age limit: 35 years.
- Field Assistant (FA): 1 post. Essential qualification: B.Sc. in Life Sciences or Agricultural Sciences. Desirable qualification: M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Microbiology. Upper age limit: 50 years.
Pay Scale
- PA-I: Rs. 31,000/- per month plus HRA for candidates qualified with CSIR-UGC NET-LS, GATE or national level exams conducted by Central Government departments and agencies; Rs. 25,000/- per month plus HRA for others.
- FA: Rs. 20,000/- per month plus HRA as per DBT OM guidelines.

Selection Process
Selection will be through the walk-in interview to be conducted by NEHU’s Department of Biochemistry.
How to Apply
- Interested candidates should appear in person at the walk-in interview.
- Bring the duly filled application form along with self-attested copies of all supporting documents.
- Candidates applying for both posts must bring separate application forms for each post.
- Produce original documents pertaining to qualifications, age, and experience at the time of the interview.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
- Working professionals or candidates pursuing courses must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective Head of Department.
Venue: Seminar Hall, Department of Biochemistry, NEHU, Shillong.
These appointments are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project tenure as per DBT and NEHU regulations.
Tenure: Initially six months with possible extensions up to 10 June 2029 for PA-I and up to 10 June 2027 for FA, subject to satisfactory performance.
The decision of the selection committee is final and binding.
