Candidates appearing for CAT 2026 should keep the following ready:
- A clear printed copy of the CAT 2026 admit card.
- An original valid photo identity document accepted under the examination instructions.
- Any additional documents specifically required by the examination authority, where applicable.

CAT 2026 Exam Pattern: What Candidates Should Know
The Common Admission Test is a computer-based management entrance examination used for admission to various postgraduate management programmes.
The examination includes three major sections:
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC): Evaluates reading comprehension and verbal reasoning abilities.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR): Evaluates the interpretation of data, analytical thinking and logical reasoning.
Quantitative Ability (QA): Tests mathematical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
The examination duration is 120 minutes for candidates following the standard test schedule, with applicable accommodations for eligible candidates.
Recent CAT examinations have included multiple-choice and non-MCQ questions. Candidates should refer to the official CAT 2026 instructions and mock test rather than assuming that previous-year question counts will remain unchanged.
CAT 2026 and MBA Admissions at Central Universities
CAT is primarily associated with admission to the Indian Institutes of Management and other participating management institutes.
However, students exploring MBA programmes at central universities should remember that not every central university accepts CAT scores for MBA admission.
University admission requirements vary. Some institutions use CUET PG, CMAT, interviews or other approved selection procedures.
Applicants planning to pursue an MBA at a central university should consult the individual university’s latest admission prospectus before selecting entrance examinations or preparing applications.
