Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand, invites Indian citizens to apply for 2 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) posts in the Department of Geology. These posts are on a MoEFCC-funded two-year project studying paleoclimate and forest dynamics in the Bugyals of Garhwal Himalaya. Applications must be sent by email and received by 5 November 2026.
Eligibility
Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Geology or Applied Geology with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized university. A valid GATE/NET or any national test conducted by central government departments and their agencies is required. If no candidate with GATE/NET is available, candidates with only the Master’s degree may be considered as per the funding agency’s rules. The upper age limit is 28 years as on the last date to apply. Reservation and other eligibility details are as per the official notification.
Pay Scale
The monthly emoluments are Rs. 37,000 plus 9% House Rent Allowance (HRA).

Selection Process
Applications will be screened by a committee which may restrict the number called for interview. Interview will be held in hybrid mode (offline/online) and the schedule will be communicated through email. No TA/DA will be provided for the interview. Preference will be given to OBC/SC/ST candidates with equal qualifications and experience.
