Dr Hari Singh Gour Central University (DHSGU) in Sagar and Bundelkhand Medical College signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 3 November 2026 to collaborate on researching diseases common in the Bundelkhand region.

Research Focus

Students and faculty from both institutions will examine possible causes of local disease patterns, investigating genetic factors, diet, and other contributors. The research aims to explore prevention methods, medicines, treatments, and medical options.

Diseases Studied

Diseases selected for study include kidney disease, cancer, tuberculosis, thalassaemia, and various viral and bacterial illnesses. The university’s integrative genomics facility and Bundelkhand Medical College’s multidisciplinary research resources will support this collaboration.

Additional Notes

The MoU formalises cooperation without creating a legally enforceable agreement. Notably, thalassaemia is an inherited haemoglobin disorder affecting globin chain production, while tuberculosis spreads via airborne particles and can be latent. The research will recognise that genetic associations do not necessarily prove causation without further evidence.
